Mental Illness

The city of Missoula and the Western Montana Health Center are seeking public comment on a project to acquire land to construct eight one-bedroom units of rental housing for homeless people with mental illness, dual diagnoses, or HIV/AIDS as priority tenants.

The Montana chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness has announced the winners of its 2013 Hero Awards. The awards are dedicated to individuals or organizations that have fought for better mental health in their community. All of the winners this year were either from Helena or Western Montana communities, like Stevensville, Hamilton, and Missoula.

After the tragic school shootings at the Sandy Hook School in Newtown, Connecticut, more focus is being placed on the mental health of the shooter, 20 year-old Adam Lanza.
