Hacking

The U,S. Department of Homeland Security reports that several states have had their voter registries hacked, however, Montana's Secretary of State Linda McCullough said Montana has a highly secure voter database.

Earlier this year, the Montana Department of Health and Human Services (DPHHS) was hacked and the social security numbers and personal information of a large number of Montanans was put at risk. Director of Montana DPHHS Richard Opper says that an intense investigation has revealed some good news.

Suspicious activity was noticed no more than two weeks ago on a computer server at the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services.

From November 27 to December 15, 40 million Americans were affected by a data breach at Target department stores, including stores in Montana.
