Frenchtown Rural Fire

A nearly 100 year-old home in Alberton burned to the ground Saturday night into Sunday morning and even though the family escaped the flames, several pets did not.

It was a very busy 4th and 5th of July for the volunteer crews at Frenchtown Rural Fire District.

Frenchtown Rural Fire was called out to an incident in Mineral County in the early morning hours on Thursday.

Open burning season is underway, however residents are urged to use greater caution after two fires got away from homeowners in the past two weeks.

Frenchtown Rural Fire crews were dispatched to an historic church in Alberton late Sunday night for a fire in the basement.

The Frenchtown Rural Fire District responded to a total of 10 small fires on Friday, reportedly caused by a Montana Rail Link 'grinder train'.

Personnel from Frenchtown Rural Fire, along with state and federal agencies are battling a five-acre blaze currently burning in the Petty Creek area west of Missoula.
