UPDATE: SWAT Team Responds to Incident in Missoula

The Missoula Police Department has released a statement indicating that yesterday's incident has been successfully resolved as of 9:00 pm on March 6, 2024. The individual is now in custody and was taken to the hospital for evaluation "in the interest of his well-being."

Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On March 6, 2024, at 2:41 PM, the Missoula Police Department informed the public that the Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) is currently deployed in response to an incident on the 2400 block of Ernest Ave. According to Public Information Officer Whitney Bennett, officers were dispatched shortly after 11 AM in response to a reported disturbance at the location.
"As of now, law enforcement has established a perimeter around the area, and we kindly request individuals to refrain from entering the vicinity for their safety," Bennett said. "However, residents and commuters are assured that access to Reserve Street and Clark Street remains unimpeded."
Bennett said the situation involves one individual inside a residence, and their skilled negotiators are actively working to establish contact and peacefully resolve the situation.

"The safety and well-being of all parties involved, including the community, are our top priorities," Bennett said. "We appreciate the cooperation of the public in refraining from the proximity to the 2400 block of Ernest Ave at this time. The Missoula Police Department is committed to the safety of our community members."
