Strangulation, Child Porn and Assault – More than Half of Missoula Felonies This Week Were Crimes Against Persons
The Missoula County Attorney’s office processed 18 felony cases this past week, August 24, and more than half of them were crimes against people. On top of a child pornography case and a handful of orders of protection violations, were some pretty disturbing family violence incidents.
"There were six partner or family member crimes," said County Attorney Kirsten Pabst. "One was a strangulation that involved trespassing... the suspect went to his ex's place and there was a baby involved, then he ran through neighbor's yards, allegedly. Another was a strangulation case that had a weapon involved the defendant strangled his partner and then held a knife to her throat."
There were also a fair number of drug cases.
"One was a meth case that involved theft and resisting arrest," Pabst said. "There was a possession of heroin plus methamphetamine, another was possession with intent to sell, the allegation is that the suspect was in possession of two pounds of marijuana and pills and, evidently, they were packaged to sell."
There were also two theft cases, one involved a stolen check book and multiple acts of forgery.
