Shattered Truck Window Leads to Drug Charges in Missoula

Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - Just before midnight on March 31, 2026, a Missoula Police Department officer was driving on West Broadway in the vicinity of the Poverello Center when he noticed a dark figure walking down the middle of the roadway. The Poverello Center is located at 1110 W Broadway. The nonprofit organization offers shelter, food, medical treatment, and other vital services to houseless people in the Missoula Community.  

The officer recognized this person as 30-year-old Jacobi Daise based on previous encounters. The officer approached Daise and commanded him to stop. During his contact with Daise, the officer heard a group of people yelling in their direction. The officer asked a fellow officer to assist in Daise’s detention while he investigated the intention of the group.  

John Doe reported that as he was pulling out of a parking space on Cedar Street to leave the Poverello Center, he noticed Daise and “exchanged words” with him. Daise threw a rock through the back window of Doe’s truck. The impact damaged the back window. Doe estimated the cost of replacement at $300.

Doe’s passenger reported that she “knew” that Daise was the rock thrower because he was yelling at them just prior to the back window breaking. She described the impact as a loud, smashing sound.  

Another officer later located the Poverello Center surveillance video. The video depicts Daise yelling at Doe’s vehicle, picking something up, and hurling it towards the vehicle. The officer located a rock where the incident occurred. Then Daise was arrested.  

Then the officer located 1.87 grams of suspected methamphetamine in Daise’s front left pants pocket. The officer presumptively identified the substance as methamphetamine utilizing the TruNarc mobile field-testing kit.

Daise was transported to the Missoula County Detention Facility. He is currently being charged with felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs and criminal mischief.
