Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - I spoke with Montana’s now senior Senator Steve Daines early Tuesday morning from his office in Washington, D.C., and covered a number of topics including cabinet confirmation hearings, and the anticipated inauguration of Donald Trump on January 20.

“This is why the November election was so important, having President Trump win convincingly both in the Electoral College and the popular vote nationwide, but also a convincing 20 point win in our great state of Montana, because now he will bring forward much, much better leadership,” began Senator Daines.

Senator Daines Eagerly Anticipates Trump's Inauguration

Daines also mentioned important cabinet-level hearings currently underway on Capitol Hill.

“I'll be having a Chris Wright, who will be the next Secretary of Energy in front of me today,” he said. “We'll have Doug Burgum tomorrow, who will be the next Secretary of the Interior, of course the former governor of North Dakota. The good news on all of this is that they have extensive experience and understanding of Montana as well. Both Doug and Chris spent a lot of time in Montana, but importantly; they have the right kind of philosophies that are really much, much more aligned where most Montanans are.”

Daines said Trump will begin to undo many of the Biden-era policies that he feels have damaged the United States.

Daines also looked forward to the upcoming inauguration ceremony on January 20.

“It’s an amazing sight, Peter, when you sit up there, this will be the third inauguration I've been through,” he said. “When you sit up there and watch what happens, you see a million people. There'll be a million people out in the mall between the Capitol and the Washington Monument waving American flags. It is an amazing sight in this peaceful transition of power as the American people can't wait to see President Trump begin his leadership as our next president.”

Daines Said Trump Plans to Sign Over 100 Executive Orders Right Away

“I'm hearing from President Trump directly,” he said. “When we met with him last week, he came up to Capitol Hill. We had an hour-and-a-half meeting right off the floor of the Senate chamber in the Mansfield room. President Trump told us he's planning to sign over 100 executive orders shortly after he's sworn in on Monday, many of these will be undoing the terrible policies that President Biden has put in place.”
