26 year-old Rance Hertz-Cimino was charged Monday afternoon in Missoula Justice Court with felony assault with a weapon and attempted bribery, also a felony, after allegedly pointing a gun at the driver of another vehicle on Sunday morning on Highway 93 between Lolo and Florence. The other driver called 9-1-1 to report the incident.

The deputy found the vehicle in the Ace Hardware parking lot in Florence driven by the suspect Rance Hertz-Cimino. When the deputy attempted to arrest the suspect, he allegedly offered the deputy a bribe....first to just take the gun and not tell anyone, and then offered the deputy $20,000 to let him go. Missoula County Sheriff's Department Public Information Officer Jason Johnson says Hertz was already on probation for a felony when he was arrested. The charges include assault with a weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, criminal endangerment and attempted bribery. Hertz-Cimino was placed in the Missoula County Jail on $50,000 bond.
