In response to the Obama Administration's newly announced ozone regulation, Representative Steve Daines issued a statement in response.

"The Obama Administration's new ozone regulation would have a crushing impact on Montana's economy and cost thousands of jobs in our state, without meaningfully improving our environment," Daines said. "Taking $270 billion per year out of an under-performing economy, as the EPA is proposing to do, is deeply irresponsible and must be stopped. I will do everything I can to fight this and other detrimental regulations put forward by this ideologically-driven administration."
Daines said decreasing the ozone standard form 75 parts per billion to 65 parts per billion and 70 parts per billion would have a marginal impact on air quality, but greatly harm the economy.
He added that it is estimated the regulations would cost Montana 5,354 lost jobs or job equivalents per year and $10.5 billion gross state product loss from 2017 and 2040.
