The Red Cross responds to nearly 70,000 disasters a year, providing shelter, food, emotional support, and other necessities to those affected.  In Montana, the Red Cross responds to a need once every 31 hours.  The American Red Cross is not a government agency, but relies on donations of time, money, and blood to do its work.

Schools and businesses may face a number of emergencies that could disrupt their operations, ranging from natural disasters such as fires and floods to outbreaks of illness such as the flu. The Ready Rating Program can help them feel more confident about the safety of their employees or students.  More information about this program can be found at http://www.readyrating.org/

In today's program, Missoula Disaster Services Team Co-Chair Teresa Drakos talks about disaster services.
