The official canvass of Ravalli County’s 2018 Primary election results has been completed. It took less than a half hour to confirm the results of the June 5th voting results, according to Clerk and Recorder and Election administrator Regina Plettenberg.

The 41.6 percent voter turnout was better than usual for a non-presidential election year primary. The increasing number of absentee ballots has risen to about a three-to-one percentage with 8,847 absentee ballots to the 3,476 people who voted at the polls on election day. There were 112 what are called provisional ballots that were counted after the unofficial results were released Election night. There were no changes in the outcome of any of the individual races with the addition of those ballots. And no results were close enough to require a recount.

In the local races, here are the official final results, as of June 19:
Republican ballot:
State Senate district 43 - Jason Ellsworth 1,822, Patrick Connell 1,558, Scott McLean 1,071
State Representative 86 - David Bedey 1,228, Jacob DeVries 767
State Rep. 88 – Sharon Greef 782, Jim Crews 611, Kim Stoltz 288
Valley Veterans Service Center Levy – In favor 8,150, Against 2,840
The rest of the local races were uncontested in Ravalli County and all judicial candidates will appear on the general election ballot November 6.
