According to Newstalk KGVO:

One person has been reported killed after a single-engine aircraft crashed upon taking off at Missoula International Airport Wednesday afternoon. The plane is said to have crashed into the rental car lot next to the airport.

At 12:30am Thursday morning, Missoula authorities appear to have wrapped up initial investigation and clean up leaving behind the wreckage until morning.

According to an eyewitness, "I just was pulling into the airport when I saw the plane begin to sputter..."

Early reports indicate that the pilot was traveling between Great Falls and Couer D'Alene and stopped into Missoula to refuel, only to lose control soon after takeoff.

All flights to and from the Missoula airport this evening have landed safely and on time with no indication that there will be any delays for travel in the morning.
