Newsweek Names Missoula Hospital the Best in Montana
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - Newsweek magazine has named Missoula’s Providence St. Patrick Hospital as the best in the state of Montana for 2024.
According to a press release from Providence St. Patrick Hospital, the ranking recognizes 600 leading hospitals from all 50 states. The ratings were compiled by Newsweek magazine and the consumer data firm Statista for the top hospitals in each state.

The press release states that the honor comes from a nationwide survey by thousands of doctors, hospital managers, and other healthcare professionals for their recommendations. Participants in the survey rated hospitals in several dimensions on a scale of one to ten, including quality of care, staffing, patient counseling, accommodations, and amenities.
The survey also included results from patient hospital experience surveys, including cleanliness, communications with nurses, doctors, care transition, communication about medicines, discharge information, staff responsiveness, as well as quietness of the hospital.
The Survey Included a Number of Metrics from Patient Surveys
There were also hospital quality metrics from both Medicare and Medicaid Services for such categories as mortality, safety, readmissions, and experience, along with timely and effective care.

In 2022, St. Patrick Hospital was named ‘Best in Montana’ for the fourth year in a row by U.S. News and World Report. In addition to being the best hospital in Montana, St. Patrick’s also was named the best hospital in the Glacier Region of Montana.
