New Commander Named to National Guard Battalion
The Montana Army National Guard says it has selected the state's first female commander of a unit that can be deployed overseas.
Maj. Renea Dorvall is scheduled to assume command of the 190th Combat Service Support Battalion during a Sunday ceremony at the Billings Armory.
The battalion of more than 600 soldiers is one of two in the Montana National Guard that provides military police, engineer and maintenance units. It has 30 soldiers now deployed in Afghanistan.
Dorvall is serving in Kalispell and recently returned from a deployment to Kandahar, Afghanistan.
She succeeds Lt. Col. Geron Wade.
