According to the Montana Motor Vehicle Division, Montana State University-Billings received two Telly awards for the student designed and scripted Montana REAL ID public information campaign videos. MVD Public Information Officer Levi Worts explains.

“It was completely their idea for the Lewis and Clark themed advertisement,” Worts said. “They wrote the scripts, they casted the actors, they picked out the costumes and all the props. They did a ton of work on this. We had Spotlight Productions come in and shoot it and cut it all together.”

According to Worts, the TV ads feature Lewis and Clark as they try to navigate Montana without REAL IDs.

“It is a light hearted take on what has been a hot button issue in Montana,” Worts said. “That is really what we wanted to do with it. We wanted to bring out the facts. We want to educate everybody as to how to get a REAL ID, what it is all about, and we want that message to spread.”

Worts says the students worked hard to make sure the campaign was effective and fun at the same time. To learn more about REAL ID, visit mtrealid.gov.
