Dangerous Pursuit: Missoula Police Car Crashes Into Home
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On May 26, 2026, the Missoula Police Department provided a statement about a dangerous pursuit that occurred on Sunday. Police Public Information Officer Whitney Bennett has the details.
“On May 24th, 2026, at approximately 9:41 PM, a Missoula Police Officer observed an individual operating a motor vehicle in an extremely reckless manner on Reserve near South 3rd Street West,” said Bennett. “The officer initiated a traffic stop on that vehicle, and the driver accelerated, and a pursuit ensued. The vehicle fled northbound on Reserve Street before turning west onto England Boulevard and entering a residential neighborhood at a high rate of speed.”
According to Bennett, a pursuing police vehicle failed to negotiate the turn and crashed into a house at that intersection.

“No occupants of the house were injured, and the officer involved in the crash was transported to the hospital due to injuries and later released,” Bennett said. “The suspect vehicle was located a short time later, but the driver had fled on foot. That vehicle was then determined to have been stolen, and a person of interest was named during the investigation.”
Montana Highway Patrol investigated the crash of the patrol car colliding with the residence.
“All pursuits and crashes involving police vehicles are internally reviewed, and that process is not yet complete,” Bennett said. “At the time of this release, the suspect has not been apprehended, and the investigation is on-going.”
