Montana’s High Traffic Fatality Numbers
24/7 Wall St. ranked all 50 U.S. states based on the highest yearly average of automobile deaths. Montana did not do well. The study analyzed auto deaths per 100,000 people from 2007 to 2009. Mississippi was ranked highest with 26.7 average auto fatalities per 100,000. Montana’s average auto fatalities per 100,000 was 23.3, which was second highest.
Alabama, Wyoming and Arkansas rounded out the top five. It’s a sobering report. No pun intended, but we know how many of those fatalities involved alcohol. And of course no seat belts.
If you want to know more about this study, and many more, it is a good read. Please drive safely and do buckle up, okay? DB
