
Hamilton and Corvallis Excel at Montana Science Olympiad
Hamilton High School was a repeat winner of the Montana Science Olympiad at Montana State University. Corvallis High School was third, and the Corvallis middle school team tied for second in their division. Hamilton middle school was 5th. Individual medals were won by various local team members in the Corvallis, Hamilton, Florence-Carlton and Missoula's Target Range teams.

The competition includes 14 events, with individual or 2-student teams in five major categories as Earth and Space Science, Life and Social Science, Physical Science and Chemistry, Tech and Engineering Design, and Inquiry and Nature of Science. Some of the event names gives you an idea of what science might be involved - The Wright Stuff, Codebusters, Wifi Lab, Disease Detectives, Storm the Castle, Crave the Wave, Mousetrap Vehicle, and Crime Busters.

In Division C (High School);
- 1st Place - Hamilton High School
- 2nd Place - Helena's Capital High
- 3rd Place - Corvallis High School
In Division B (middle School):
- lst Place - Great Falls North Middle School
- 2nd Place - A Tie between Corvallis Middle School and CR Anderson Middle School of Helena
- 3rd Place - Lewistown Junior High School
The April 15th competition was the 37th MSU Science Olympiad and the winning teams are eligible to compete in the national competition, that will be hosted online by the California Institute of Technology next month.
