Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - Montana Senator Steve Daines called into the KGVO Newsmakers Line on Monday to share his views about the announcement over the weekend that President Joe Biden was withdrawing from the Presidential race and putting his support behind Vice President Kamala Harris.

Daines began by stating that the move by the White House is part of what he believes to be a massive cover-up operation.

Senator Daines Called the Biden Withdrawal a 'Massive Cover-Up'

“It’s a massive cover-up, probably one of the greatest cover-ups in my lifetime,” began Senator Daines. “Go back to 2020 when Joe Biden was running against President Trump in that election. Remember, they had the ‘bunker mentality’ strategy. They kept Joe Biden out of public view for much of that campaign because they knew he wasn't to the job. This is a big cover-up.”

Daines even called out his fellow Senator from Montana, Democrat Jon Tester, who Daines said was part of the overall cover-up.

Daines Called out his Fellow Montana Senator Jon Tester on the Issue

“Jon Tester was out touting, and Montanans are seeing this in his own words, from interviews he did with MSNBC, one of the most liberal networks in America,” he said. “MSNBC goes out to his (Tester’s) farm in Big Sandy to do an in-depth story with Jon. And Jon says, ‘Yeah, I support Joe Biden. He's 100 percent with it.’ That's a lie. That's a lie. This is all part of the cover-up.”

Daines said the President’s condition will only worsen until the election.

“Remember, over the course of the next six months of President Biden's presidency, his condition will only further deteriorate,” he said. “This is not a personal attack. This is not a mean-spirited statement. It's a conversation that many Montanans have had to have over the years with aging parents or grandparents, of where time catches up with all of us at some point, and time has caught up with Joe Biden. The thing is, time caught up with him about three years ago, and the Democrats covered it up because they're concerned about maintaining power in the White House.”

U.S. Senator Jon Tester also released the following statement on President Joe Biden’s decision not to seek re-election:

“I respect President Biden’s decision and believe it is the right thing to do for our country. Sharla and I thank him for his lifetime of public service and dedication to our great nation.”

Last week Tester asked President Biden not to seek re-election and said he supports an open nomination process.

Daines then put in a word for the Republican attempting to oust Tester from the Senate, Tim Sheehy.

He Then Put in a Plug for Republican Tim Sheehy to Defeat Tester

“That's why it's so important on November 5th that we elect Tim Sheehy to come back to Washington to serve with me,” he said. “Remember, Jon Tester voted twice to impeach President Trump. He voted against every one of Trump’s Supreme Court nominees. He voted against the Trump tax cuts. And that's why it's more than just Kamala Harris on the ballot. We've got to get a Republican Senate Majority back in Washington to support President Trump, not undermine him like Jon Tester has, and move forward here with a new agenda.”

Another prominent Montana Republican, Governor Greg Gianforte, also issued an opinion on the Biden announcement.

“There are a lot of questions here, and the American people deserve answers. If Joe Biden is incapable of running for reelection and serving another term, it's a fair question whether he can or should finish out his current term. And as Joe Biden's vice president, Kamala Harris should come clean about why she actively hid Joe Biden's condition from the American people.”
