Montana Governor Urges President Biden to Solve Baby Formula Shortage
Montana Governor Greg Gianforte along with 18 other governors recently sent a letter asking President Biden to act right away to end the shortage of baby formula in the U.S.
KGVO reached out to Gianforte’s office for a comment on what the governors asked of President Biden to help the millions of families who purchase baby formula on a regular basis.
“We live in the United States where a young family shouldn't have to struggle to find baby formula,” began Governor Gianforte. “That's why I teamed up with 18 governors to recommend what the Biden administration should do immediately to fix the shortage.”
Gianforte said the White House and the Biden administration must pull out all the stops to allow the importation of baby formula from other countries.
“First we need to provide some regulatory relief,” he said. “The Biden administration should temporarily suspend red tape that limits the importation of safe infant formula from foreign countries.”
Gianforte also addressed the bottleneck in the supply chain that is keeping baby formula from being transported into this country.
“We also need to reform our supply chain,” he said. “Over 8 million Americans regularly purchase formula. They need a more reliable supply immediately. The Biden administration must get its house in order and fix this serious problem.”
The 18 governors also recommended changes to allow the WIC program to smooth the road for more delivery of baby formula, especially to needy families.
Gianforte will also be appearing on the KGVO Talk Back program on Friday, June 10 to discuss this and other issues.
