At about 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Missoula Police responded to the report of a burglary in progress in the 400 block of Rollins street. Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh explains.

“The complainants said they came home and discovered somebody in their residence who came out of a back room,” Welsh said. “He claimed he was cleaning the house and then ran out the backdoor when the complainants called 911. They provided a description of the male and indicated that a vehicle left out front of their residence belonged to the suspect.”

According to Welsh, the responding officers were able to identify the registered owner of that vehicle and the owner matched the description of the suspect.

“A short time later, that registered owner did call the police department and asked if his vehicle had been towed,” Welsh said. “The man agreed to meet with officers and subsequently agreed to come down to the police department for an interview. After the interview, he was placed under arrest for attempted burglary. He is identified as 26-year-old Ivan Bobko.”

Bobko posted bond and was eventually released from the Missoula County Jail. He is being charged with one count of felony burglary.
