Missoula Woman Robbed People at Walmart and a Casino in the Same Night
At around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Missoula Police officers were dispatched to the report of a robbery that had just occurred at Walmart on Mullan Road. At around the same time, an officer was flagged down by two individuals in a white vehicle on the Reserve Street Bridge. Both appeared upset and stated they had just been robbed at gun point by a white female.
They said they were in the Walmart parking lot and were approached by a female who told them she needed money. They said the female produced a handgun and pointed it at them. They gave the female seven dollars, some change, and a debit card.
Three hours later, at around 1:35 a.m., an employee at Montana Lil’s Casino called 911 to report she had been robbed by a female who threatened her and stated she had a gun. Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh explains.
“When they arrived, they made contact with the female employee who said that the suspect had come into the casino, sat at one of the machines, and began to play,” Welsh said. “After a short period, the woman got up and appeared to be about to leave. The employee asked her if she was in fact leaving. She initially said yes. However, then she said she wanted all the money the employee had and that if she didn’t produce it, she would pull a gun.”
The employee gave the female approximately $500 in cash. The female exited the store and left on foot before eventually entering a vehicle.
“Officers spoke to a witness who described the vehicle and the suspect,” Welsh said. “Both were eventually located at a nearby parking lot. The female matching the description was sitting in the car that also matched the description given by the witness. The female was placed under arrested and transported to the Missoula County Detention Center.”
The female was identified as 28-year-old Chelsea Martin. Martin said she was involved in an “incident” earlier in the Walmart parking lot and that she had used what she believed was a BB gun. There was another BB gun in her handbag that she had brought into the casino.
Martin was charged with two counts of felony robbery.
