Missoula Teacher Receives 2015 Exceptional High School Educator Award
One Missoula high school teacher was awarded the 2015 Exceptional High School Educator Award on Friday.
"Tom Andres, who works at Big Sky and is part of the Agriculture Education Center was awarded the Exceptional Educator Award from the Missoula Education Foundation," Big Sky High School Principal Natalie Jaeger said. "We were so proud and we celebrated that at our assembly today."
Jaeger said award selections are made by the MEF Student Board which is comprised of high school students in the MCPS district.
"The MEF solicits nominations from students, parents and staff each year. This year it was folks from the high school, last year it was the middle schools. So, somebody in our community nominated him and wrote some testimony about why he should be considered and exceptional educator," Jaeger said. "The student board of the MEF chose him to receive the award."
Past recipients include Mr. Cameron Johnson from Big Sky High School, Mr. Kevin Cashman from Chief Charlo Elementary School, Mr. Tracy Stone from Seeley-Swan High School, Mr. Gregory Imhoff from Washington Middle School and Mrs. Karen Umbaugh from Sentinel High School.
