UPDATE: Standoff Suspect in Missoula is Now in Custody

The Missoula Police Department has made an arrest following this afternoon’s incident in the 1700 block of Cooley Street. According to Police Public Information Officer Whitney Bennett, 39-year-old Jennifer Rasmussen was taken into custody on charges of Assault with a Weapon, Tampering with Evidence, Felony Partner Family Member Assault, and Resisting Arrest.
"Rasmussen was apprehended within 20 minutes of a judge signing a warrant, highlighting the quick response and coordination by patrol officers, SWAT, negotiators, and detectives on scene," Bennett said. "This was an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat to the public. The investigation remains active as detectives continue their work."
Bennett wanted to thank the community for their patience and cooperation.

According to MPD, the suspect involved in the standoff has been taken into custody. The suspect was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment and there is no longer a risk to the public.

Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - The Missoula Police Department is currently managing an evolving incident in the 1700 block of Cooley Street. According to Police Public Information Officer Whitney Bennett, officers and SWAT members are on scene.
"We are advising the public to avoid the area, particularly those on foot, to ensure personal safety and allow emergency personnel space to address the situation," Bennett said. "At approximately 1:00 p.m., officers were dispatched following reports of a disturbance involving a sharp-edged weapon."
Given the nature of the incident, Bennett said the SWAT team was activated just before 2:30 p.m.
"We appreciate the community’s cooperation in staying clear of the area while our officers work," Bennett said. "Further updates will be provided as they become available."
