Missoula SWAT Team Responds to Barricaded Juvenile
On March 30, 2026, Missoula Police Department patrol officers responded to the 100 block of Camelot Court following a report of a domestic disturbance. Police Public Information Officer Whitney Bennett has the details.
“During the initial investigation, officers received information that a Partner/Family Member Assault involving strangulation had been reported,” Bennett said. “Officers attempted to contact a juvenile male inside the residence. He refused to exit and was considered a barricaded subject, resulting in the activation of the Missoula Police Department Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team.”
As part of the operation, Bennett said officers made numerous announcements directing the individual to exit the residence.

“Officers also utilized drones on the exterior of the residence to assist with situational awareness,” Bennett said. “The Missoula Police Department Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) responded and attempted to make contact with the individual in an effort to gain voluntary compliance. SWAT officers continued announcements and also deployed Tactical Electronic Distraction Devices (T.E.D.D.) in an effort to gain voluntary compliance.”
Bennett said the individual continued to refuse to exit the residence.
“After consulting with the Missoula County Attorney’s Office, officers obtained a search warrant signed by a judge,” Bennett said. “After the court order was obtained, a chemical agent was deployed into the residence. The male then exited the residence and was taken into custody. There were no injuries reported as a result of the police response.”
