Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On October 19, 2025, at approximately 2:26 p.m., Missoula Police Department Officers were dispatched to a report of shoplifting at Scheels. The 911 caller stated that there was a male and female inside the store concealing items, but they were not going to approach them due to the male possessing a firearm. Officers waited to try and contact the two outside of the populated store in case any type of force encounter ensued.

An officer drove up to the suspect female in the parking lot and ordered her to sit down. The female was identified as 32-year-old Dominiqye Foss. Foss denied ever stealing anything even though she was wearing brand-new shoes and a sweatshirt.

The 911 caller came outside to talk with the officer and explained that Foss was on surveillance selecting the shoes, taking off her old ones, placing them in the box, and putting on the new ones. The video also showed Foss stealing the hoodie and some jewelry.

The Officer Found More Stolen Items

The officer placed Foss under arrest and completed a search which yielded more stolen jewelry and the tag from a beanie she had ripped off. Foss was then transported to jail without further issue.

The officer continued her investigation by going inside Scheels and reviewing some of the surveillance. The officer noted that both of the suspects came in together, hid to conceal merchandise together, and were talking while doing it.

Simultaneously, other officers drove over to the north doors of Scheels in an attempt to locate the male who was later identified as Kent Childs. An officer observed Childs walking away from the building and towards her patrol vehicle. The officer exited her patrol vehicle and called out to Childs, "Police. Stop." Childs stopped, and the officer commanded him to show his hands. Childs complied and was placed into handcuffs.

Once Childs was detained, his handgun was removed from his hip holster and secured for safekeeping. Childs then advised that he had a second gun in the front right pocket of his pants. The officer removed the second gun and secured it as well.

Childs Admitted to Stealing Items

The officer asked Childs if the sweatshirt he was wearing had been stolen. Childs placed his head down and admitted that it was. Childs went on to admit that he also stole the camo shirt and shoes he was currently wearing. Officers learned that the pepper ball handgun located in his front right pocket was also stolen from inside Scheels. Scheels provided officers with an inventory and total amount of items taken which totaled $2,179.55.

Childs was placed in the back of the officer’s patrol vehicle and was transported to jail. According to court documents, a review of Childs’s criminal history confirms that he is a convict required to register as a sexual or violent offender, whose status as of October 20, 2025, is non-compliant.

Both Foss and Childs are currently being charged with felony accountability for theft. Child’s bond was set at $10,000.
