Missoula Sees Much Less Crime in Run-Up to St. Patrick’s Day
After weeks of double and triple workloads, the Missoula County Attorney’s Office received an odd week of surprisingly low crime. Missoula County Chief Deputy Attorney Jason Marks explains.
"We had about ten new felony cases filed this week, which is back down to around normal. We had kind of a crazy week before that, but this week was more of the usual sad stuff: methamphetamine, domestic violence. Though it was kind of a nice return to normal."
Though ten felony cases in a week may have been “normal” in past years, Marks said that this was the lowest case load the office has seen so far in 2017. The dip in crime this past week popped up elsewhere as well: twice during the past week the jail roster was empty and police had multiple days with no in-custody cases.
