Disorderly Conduct Incident: Missoula Police Officer Gets Kicked
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On February 27, 2025, a Missoula Police Department Officer responded to a disorderly conduct call at the Blue Heron Place on Mullan Road. A staff member reported that a resident, later identified as 65-year-old James Muster AKA Madame Butterfly, was threatening the lives of others, screaming, yelling, and refusing to turn down a radio.
A second caller reported that he had been assaulted by Muster, who threw some kind of liquid on him and stated they were going to give the victim “AIDS.” Officers attempted to contact Muster, but Muster immediately fled on foot, requiring a foot chase.
Officers grabbed Muster as she approached her apartment and physically lowered her to the ground. Muster physically pulled away from the officer and resisted his attempt to place her under arrest. Another officer tried to secure Muster’s hands, but Muster pulled her arm away, requiring the officer to forcefully pull her arm out before placing handcuffs on her.
According to court documents, Muster began yelling obscenities at officers. Muster was helped to her feet and while attempting to walk towards the elevator, Muster continuously physically resisted by pushing her body back into the officers, yelling, screaming, and threatening to vomit and defecate on them.
She kicked the lobby door and continued to resist by lowering his body to the ground in “dead weight.” While walking towards the patrol car, Muster began throwing her body backwards and kicking her feet around. Muster kicked an officer aggressively in the shin, causing him pain.

Once Muster was secured, additional investigation revealed that the caller who reported being hit with a liquid by Muster had a video of Muster yelling and causing a disturbance. They also showed the officers a liquid mark on the ground. The staff member said Muster had caused a great disturbance by yelling, screaming, and disturbing the peace of those present.
Muster was placed under arrest and was transported to the Missoula County Detention Facility. Muster is currently being charged with felony assault on a peace officer, disorderly conduct, obstructing a peace officer, and resisting arrest.
