Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On February 15, 2025, at approximately 11:46 p.m., a Missoula Police Department Officer responded to the Rhino Bar in reference to two males fighting. The officer contacted 35-year-old Mason Clements who was wearing grey pants and a dark green jacket and had a pocketknife on him. Clements was trespassed from the Rhino because of this incident.

On February 16, 2025, at approximately 12:08 a.m., officers were dispatched to Red’s Bar for a report of a male chasing people with a knife. Dispatch noted the suspect was described as wearing a dark green jacket and grey pants. The officer realized this may be the Clements he recently contacted.

Another officer arrived at the intersection of Main Street and Ryman Street. Witnesses directed him to continue westbound until he located the suspect, Clements, by Main Street and Woody Street. The officer conducted a high-risk stop and placed Clements into handcuffs without incident.

During a search incident to arrest, the officer located a can of pepper spray on Clements. Another officer located a pocketknife folded in the open position inside Clements’ jacket pocket.

Officers spoke to several witnesses including John Doe. Doe said that he and his friends, two additional males and a female, were at the Bodega and then left to walk home. When they went outside, a guy Doe did not know started following them.

Doe said Clements tried to walk up toward the female in the group, and Doe told Clements to get away. Clements became upset at Doe, got into a fighting stance with his hands up, and balled his fists. Doe heard someone yell, “knife” and noticed Clements had a knife in his right hand with the blade open.

Clements lunged at Doe, sticking the knife out towards him. Doe moved back, grabbed Clements on the shoulders, and shoved him to the ground. Clements yelled saying, “I’m going to kill you.” Doe got scared of being stabbed and started running to Main Street before turning north and seeing the police. Clements was chasing Doe with the knife the entire time Doe was running and continued to yell at Doe.

An officer observed damage to Doe’s shirt and took photographs. He also logged the knife into evidence. Clements was placed under arrest and was transported to the Missoula County Detention Facility. He is currently being charged with felony assault with a weapon and assault. His bond was set at $5,000.
