38 year-old Brian Chamberlain has been accused of aggravated assault, strangulation and partner of family member assault after allegedly threatening the life of his girlfriend, not once, but twice.

He was arrested and placed in the Missoula County Jail, and appeared in justice court on Wednesday. Deputy Missoula County Attorney Lacey Lincoln explained the facts of the case.

“He made a very violent threat to kill his girlfriend, Jane Doe, and then strangled her,” Lincoln said. “This type of behavior has happened for two days back to back resulting in the aggravated assault, as well as the partner of family member assault charges.”

Lincoln said Chamberlain also allegedly violated an order of protection she had taken out against Chamberlain.

“He has been charged with a violation of protection order first offense, unlawful restraint, aggravated assault and partner or family member assault. The state requested a $10,000 bail amount along with standard conditions of release.”

Judge Marie Anderson set bail for Chamberlain at $5,000, and ordered him to have no contact with the victim.
