27 year-old University of Montana journalism student Shane Maxey was arrested Tuesday and charged Wednesday afternoon in Missoula District Court on two counts of sexual abuse of children after allegedly communicating over the internet with a minor for the purpose of engaging in sexual conduct. He was actually communicating with Missoula Police Detective Chris Shermer, posing as a 14 year-old girl. Missoula County Deputy Attorney Jason Marks provides details of the incident. His comments are attached.

If convicted on the two felony counts of sexual abuse of children, Maxey could spend the rest of his life in prison.
