Missoula Man Asleep in His Vehicle Gets Caught With Meth
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On the evening of January 31, 2023, the owner of a local restaurant called law enforcement to report that he was watching his surveillance cameras and observed a male attempt to enter his closed restaurant after parking in his private lot.
It was after hours and the owner was concerned about his late-night cook who would be leaving soon. The owner said the male was in a dark-colored truck with a topper. Missoula Police Department officers arrived to investigate trespassing and possible camping in the city.
Officers observed the suspect male’s vehicle and noticed that he was slumped over on his side asleep. Officers shined their lights into the cab to wake him. He identified himself as 48-year-old Izer Moore. Officers also observed what appeared to be a meth pipe with white residue in the front seat and a torch lighter often used to smoke drugs.
Moore was removed from the vehicle, placed under arrest for possession of drug paraphernalia, and advised of his rights. Moore consented to a search of his belongings and a Ziploc bag containing a crystalline substance was located in his glove box.
Officers knew from training and experience that the substance was likely methamphetamine. According to court documents, the substance was later tested and yielded a positive result for meth. Moore admitted to officers that he was getting ready to use and had also used earlier in the day.
Moore was then transported to the Missoula County Detention Center. He is currently being charged with felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs.
