Missoula Man Arrested for Aggravated Assault – Parole Violation – Held Without Bond [YouTube]
29 year-old Ceylon Elgin-Taylor was arrested late Wednesday night and charged with felony aggravated assault, partner or family member assault and parole violation.
Elgin-Taylor, a former UM and semi-pro athlete, was arrested after hiding in a utility room inside his girlfriend's apartment.
Police spokesman Travis Welsh said the incident began when a neighbor contacted police about a disturbance next door.
"Officers were called to an apartment in the 2400 block on 55th Street," Welsh said. "When officers arrived, the female resident said she had been assaulted, and the suspect was hiding in a utility room inside the apartment. Elgin-Taylor was found and placed under arrest."
Welsh said the suspect began resisting arrest, and continued when the officers escorted him outside.
"He began to pull away from officers," continued Welsh. "It went to the ground, and officers called for backup. He was eventually brought under control and placed in a police car. Elgin-Taylor was taken to jail and charged with felony aggravated assault, partner or family member assault and resisting arrest. It was also learned that he had violated parole from a previous conviction."
The female victim told police that Elgin-Taylor had attempted to strangle her during the confrontation, and she was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Deputy Missoula County Attorney Jason Marks said Elgin-Taylor is being held in the Missoula County Jail without bond until he appears in justice court on Friday.
