Missoula Man Allegedly Strangled His Girlfriend After She Refused Sex
At around 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Missoula Police Department officers were dispatched to the Great Northern Apartments for a reported domestic disturbance.
Officers arrived a made contact with a female who had her 2-year-old child with her. The woman told officers that she and 20-year-old Jaden Chiefstick had been in a relationship for four years and had a child in common. According to Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh, the couple had been arguing.
“It had escalated to a physical confrontation between the two during which time it is reported that Chiefstick compressed the front of his 19-year-old partner’s neck,” Welsh said. “That caused her to have difficulty breathing. Mr. Chiefstick was arrested for strangulation of a partner or family member and tampering with a communication device after he damaged his partner’s phone during the altercation.”
According to court documents, the female said she was able to grab a steak knife and slash at him to get him to release her. The female said the incident began when Chiefstick started pressuring her to perform sexual acts on him even though he knew she didn’t want to. She entered into the kitchen and Chiefstick followed, continuing to pressure her. She began yelling at him and Chiefstick grabbed her neck with his hand, putting pressure on it. She began screaming and crying for help, and Chiefstick placed his hand over her mouth, making her completely unable to breathe.
The female stated that when she told Chiefstick she was going to call the police, Chiefstick took her phone and broke it. Officers spoke to Chiefstick and he admitted they were arguing over sexual frustrations. Chiefstick also admitted to breaking the victim’s phone but denied it was because she was trying to call 911.
