UPDATE – Authorities Ask For Public’s Help in East Missoula Shooting

Detectives with the Missoula County Sheriff’s Office are asking anyone with information regarding Friday’s shooting to please contact our office.

UPDATE 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 6
The Missoula County coroner has confirmed 58-year-old Dennis Wilson of East Missoula died of a gunshot wound he sustained during a shooting off of Highway 200 E on Friday.
The details of the incident are still under investigation as detectives continue to interview witnesses.
The second male subject who was transported to the hospital was discharged from the facility yesterday. His age and name are not being released at this time. More information is expected to be released on Monday.
UPDATE 12:00 midnight, June 6
Detectives with the Missoula County Sheriffs Office have confirmed that a 58-year-old man is dead after a shooting in East Missoula.
The shooting was reported at approximately 1 PM on Highway 200 East. Two males both of East Missoula were transported to a local hospital, where one was later pronounced dead.
No arrests have been made. One person was held for questioning, but was later released. Detectives have obtained a warrant for the property and continue to process the crime scene. No names are being released at this time.

A neighbor told NBC Montana he heard four or five gunshots, which he initially thought were fireworks. When he went outside he saw a person lying on the ground.
NBC Montana reports the neighbor saw paramedics performing CPR on the person, who was then taken to the hospital.
No one has been taken into custody in connection with the shooting.
The Missoulian reports the victim and the alleged shooter both have been transported to the hospital.
Missoula County Sheriff's deputies are on the scene.
