Missoula Honors Danit Ehrlich’s Life and Legacy on Her Birthday
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On June 1, 2026, early in the morning, family, friends, and community members gathered at Jacob’s Island Dog Park to honor and remember Danit Ehrlich on what would have been her 35th Birthday. Missoula Police Public Information Officer Whitney Bennett said Danit tragically lost her life last year after entering the Clark Fork River near Jacob's Island.
“Her passing touched many throughout our community and prompted an extensive search and recovery effort involving numerous first responders, volunteers, and partner agencies,” Bennett said. “Kind words were spoken about the person Danit was and the impact she had on those fortunate enough to know her. The support and love shown by those who attended was a powerful reminder of how deeply she is missed.”
Throughout the search and recovery efforts, Bennett said Danit’s family expressed deep appreciation for the dedication, compassion, and persistence demonstrated by responding agencies.

“While no words can ease the loss felt by those closest to her, today’s gathering was a beautiful tribute to Danit’s life and the memories that continue to live on through her family and friends,” Bennett said. “Members of the Missoula Police Department were honored to attend in support of Danit’s loved ones and to remember her. On a day that would have marked her 35th birthday, we join those who knew and loved her in celebrating her life and remembering the joy she brought to others. Happy Birthday, Danit.”
