Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On December 6, 2024, at approximately 10:15 a.m., a call came into dispatch reporting a possible intoxicated driver in the 3300 block of Great Northern Avenue. The caller had provided a license plate which was registered to 50-year-old Damon Evans.
At approximately 10:29 a.m., a Missoula Police Department officer was dispatched to a report of a male who had driven into a light post in the parking lot of 3045 N. Reserve Street before driving away. The caller was reporting that the man had now returned and was acting strangely.
The officer had previously interacted with Evans earlier that day. During that interaction, Evans appeared to be under the influence of a stimulant. When the officer arrived at the location, he recognized Evans standing outside of his vehicle, which was parked next to the light pole. The light post was damaged, and Evans’ truck had damage to the front bumper. According to court documents, Evans told the officer that he drove his truck into the light pole.
The officer observed that Evans was constantly moving, seemed unable to remain still, and was making odd statements about electronics. During Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, the officer observed 7 out of 18 indicators of impairment. Evans provided a PBT with a reading of 0.000 BrAC. Then he was placed under arrest for DUI.
