Missoula Crime Report: Half of the 22 Cases This Week Were Crimes Against People
The Missoula County Attorney’s Office charged 22 new felony complaints this week, which is well above average. According to County Attorney Kirsten Pabst, half of the cases this week were crimes against people.
“Four involved violence within the family,” Pabst said. “We charged two strangulation cases, a stalking case, and an assault on a minor. In the non-family category, we charged an assault on a peace officer, a simple assault, and an aggravated assault in which the defendant allegedly followed a woman on the river trail who was walking her dog resulting in some serious injuries to her.”
In addition, Pabst said they charged three assault with a weapon cases and one sexual abuse of a child.
“In the other category, there were three property crimes, a criminal mischief involving a defendant allegedly punching a vehicle’s windshield, a theft involving a stolen car, and an embezzlement case as well,” Pabst said. “There were three new drug cases. One involved meth and one involved meth plus heroin. The other was criminal possession with intent to sell.”
Finally, Pabst said her office charged five fugitives and four of them were from the state of Washington. A fugitive complaint is filed when a person has a warrant pending or has skipped bail in another jurisdiction.
