Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - The Missoula County Attorney’s Office filed 18 new felony complaints this week, which is three less than last week and higher than the weekly average. Lead Deputy County Attorney Brittany Williams provided this week’s report.

“We had seven violent or crimes against persons cases, two endangerment crimes, five property crimes, three drug crimes, and one administrative crime,” Williams said. “During the holiday season, tensions are high and the weather is taking a turn so it's not uncommon for us to see those higher peaks around holidays.”

Williams handles the majority of the criminal prosecutions with the Missoula Drug Task Force. She said that Fentanyl is still very prevalent in our community.

“Our law enforcement officers that work with the drug task force are working all sorts of hours,” Williams said. “We are doing our best to intercept individuals who are bringing drugs into our community. I think there's been lots of really great advancements as far as technology and different uses of that. We also have a lot more law enforcement officers that are looking at these cases with a trained eye and reporting to the necessary bodies to ensure that we can at least slow down or prevent some drugs from coming into our communities.”

Williams also mentioned that this past year was extremely trial-heavy.

“I myself had the most felony trials that I've had in my career this past year and I know that we have a lot upcoming,” Williams said. “We have a couple of different homicides that are set for the spring. I believe the Miles Miller homicide got set again in January and there's another homicide I believe that's set in June. I'm going to be a part of that should that go to trial. As of late, it hasn't been uncommon for us to have two to three homicides a year and it seems like we're on that same trajectory again for 2025.”

The Missoula County Attorney’s Office provides a weekly crime report every Friday morning at 9:00 on Talk Back. You can listen to Williams’ full report below:
