Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On September 28, 2025, the Mineral County Sheriff's Office contacted Montana Highway Patrol dispatch requesting assistance in locating a vehicle that was called in for blocking a driveway. The 911 caller reported that a blue Toyota pickup with a silver toolbox was partially blocking Railroad Ave. in Alberton.

The caller reported that when he approached the vehicle, he observed an older male slumped in the front seat and seemed to be asleep. The caller knocked on the window and startled the male. The male then rolled the window down and asked, "What took you so long?" The caller observed the male had a "meth/crack pipe" in his left hand and a double-barreled shotgun within reach. The caller left the area and notified law enforcement of his observations.

A trooper located the vehicle inside the parking lot of the Town Pump at the Wye in Missoula County. The trooper conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as 61-year-old Lonnie Schedlbauer. The trooper observed the following of Lonnie: watery eyes, unsteadiness on his feet, his pupils did not react to light, and he had urinated himself.

Additionally, Lonnie appeared to have light burns on his lower lip, which, based on the trooper’s training and experience, was consistent with a burn after a high-heat smoking pipe being used to ingest/smoke illegal narcotics.

Lonnie provided a PBT which showed 0.00 BAC. Lonnie was read Implied Consent and refused to provide a sample. The trooper applied for and was granted a search warrant for Lonnie's blood.

During a search incident to arrest, troopers found two small glass containers inside Lonnie's left front pocket. According to court documents, Lonnie informed the trooper that the glass container was for meth, and he used them to store his meth. Later, the glass containers would be field tested at the MHP office. Both containers tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine.
