On Wednesday, Probation and Parole Officers conducted a random home visit at a hotel room and discovered criminal activity. When the suspect opened the door, the probation officer observed that another female was present in the hotel room, which violated the suspect’s residence conditions. Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh explains.

“Just after 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, officers were called to a hotel in the 3000 block of Expo Parkway to meet with a probation officer who had had contact with a client at that location,” Welsh said. “The probation officer informed the officer that she had conducted a search of her client’s hotel room and discovered the presence of narcotics and drug paraphernalia. The client was identified as 43-year-old Jess Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell was placed under arrest for drug related charges and transported to the Missoula County Detention Center.”

Court documents indicate the probation officer found methamphetamine, heroin, and apparent drug paraphernalia all in plain view on a bedside table. The Missoula Police Officer who responded to the scene took possession of the contraband and all tests came back positive. Mitchell was charged with two counts of felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs.
