Man Charged With Felony Robbery for Taking Female’s Wallet and Phone
At around 9:15 Tuesday night, Missoula Police received a call from someone reporting a disturbance near the intersection of West Front Street and North Higgins Avenue. According to Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh, the complainant said three males were accosting a male and a female.
“A second caller called later and reported to be the male that was involved,” Welsh said. “He said that he had been assaulted by one of the suspect males. The officers made contact with the victims. Two of the males involved remained on scene. The two victims were on scene and gave statements describing one particular male who seemed to be the aggressor. The female victim also reported that her wallet and cell phone were missing after the altercation.”
Just before midnight, officers responded to a disturbance in the 1000 block of East Broadway. One of the males there matched the description that was given earlier by the female victim.
“That male was identified as 36-year-old Kewan Freeman,” Welsh said. “Freeman was subsequently arrested. After further investigation, he was found to be in possession of property belonging to the victims of the earlier disturbance. He was transported to the Missoula County Jail where he was held on a charge of felony robbery.”
Freeman was also charged with obstructing a peace officer because he allegedly provided fictitious information for identification. In addition, he faces a misdemeanor charge for possession of drug paraphernalia.
