Man Caught Outside Missoula Casino With Heroin, Meth, and Stolen Car
A vehicle reported stolen from River Street in Missoula was found by police around 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening during an unrelated call. Police Public information officer Travis welsh explains.
"An officer was dispatched to the report of drug activity occurring in the parking lot of a casino in the 1200 block of West Broadway," Welsh said. "Information received was that there were two vehicles potentially involved and multiple persons. When the officer arrived they identified the vehicles that had been described, including one that had previously been reported stolen."
The individual in the stolen car is now facing three felony charges.
"They made contact with an individual identified as Curtis Babbitt and learned that he had been in possession of the stolen vehicle," Welsh said. "He was taken into custody at the scene and just prior to transport to the the detention center he was found to be in possession of dangerous drugs, including heroin and methamphetamine."
Babbitt was held on charges for theft, Criminal possession of Dangerous drugs and Tampering with evidence. It is unclear what role he was playing in the original drug activity call that police responded to, but he is not yet facing a charge of possession with intent to distribute.
