Man Breaks Missoula Business’s Windows With a Skateboard
On July 30, 2022, around 9:10 pm, Missoula Police Department officers were dispatched to a criminal mischief in progress at the YWCA building on Broadway. Dispatch advised that 28-year-old Cameron Billedeaux, a well-known male to law enforcement who frequents the area, was seen breaking windows of the building with his skateboard.
When officers arrived, Billedeaux was no longer on the scene. One officer informed the night shift that officers had to respond to several calls throughout the day for Billedeaux, due in part to his intoxication. The officer was then able to locate Billedeaux on the California Street footbridge. Police Public Information Officer Lydia Arnold picks up the story.
“Cameron Billedeaux was taken into custody and treated by medical for injuries sustained while damaging and breaking a business's windows,” Arnold said. “Officers responded to a report of in-progress criminal mischief. Officers observed the damage and spoke with the property owner.”
An officer then learned that a security guard was the one who witnessed Billedeaux breaking windows and then leaving the area on his skateboard. The security guard told the officer he observed Billedeaux break all of the windows, which totaled seven double pane windows.
Billedeaux admitted to an officer that he knowingly destroyed the windows and stated he thought he could because he saw another person do it previously who wasn’t arrested.
“Billedeaux was visibly intoxicated and had what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries from broken glass,” Arnold said. “This case is still under investigation with the Missoula Police Department.”
According to court documents, Billedeaux was taken to the hospital for various medical needs, including a laceration on his forearm. An officer estimated the damage to the building well exceeds $1,500. As a result, Billedeaux is currently being charged with felony criminal mischief.
