Man Arrested on Felony DUI After Officer Finds Him Behind Wheel With Beer in Car
Missoula Police made yet another felony DUI arrest this week after a citizen’s complaint early Wednesday morning. Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh explains.
“At 8:48 a.m. a caller reported a male who appeared to be intoxicated that was driving around a parking lot located in the 1200 block of McDonald Avenue,” Welsh said. “The officer responded and located the vehicle that had been described. It was parked and running and the occupant was in the driver’s seat.”
When the officer approached the suspect the key was still in the ignition and an alcohol container was open inside the vehicle.
“The officer engaged the male and made observations of him and of an open alcohol container in the vehicle that led him to believe that the man was in fact intoxicated,” Welsh said. “According to the report, it sounds like the alcohol was beer. He asked him to step out of the vehicle. He began an investigation and subsequently arrested James Hildebrant.”
Hildebrant has been convicted of DUI at least three times before, making this a felony charge.
