Folks in Lake County finally know the outcome of an $85,000 bond that was on the ballot to hire more police officers in Ronan. Lake County Elections Coordinator Kathie Newgard says provisional ballots still needed to be counted before they could release the official vote results.

“Before we counted them it was a two vote difference,” said Newgard. “Two more people had voted against it than had voted for it. After the provisional count on Monday, we add 22 ballots. There were 10 that voted for it and 12 that voted against it which made it a four vote difference overall. It did not pass.”

According to Newgard, 626 votes were casted and the four vote difference was not enough to trigger a recount because it is outside the one quarter, of one percent, of the total vote margin.
