Montana Griz Football Standout Added to Prestigious Watch List
If there is an NCAA College Football All-Beard Team, we might as well just name this guy a first-stringer right now.
But performance on the field, not on the face, has a University of Montana Grizzly football player on a very elite watch list. And we hope his talent on the field this season is enough to get him invited to the most prestigious postseason all-star game in college football.
UM Sports Information Director Eric Taber tells us that today (Wednesday), Montana offensive tackle Chris Walker's name has been added to the annual Reece’s Senior Bowl watch list, which tracks prospects eligible to compete in the postseason all-star game. Chris is one of only five players from the Big Sky Conference to earn the recognition.
An extremely crowded field? No doubt about it. Walker is now on the 720-man list compiled by a professional scouting team that, according to their press release, “works to identify the best of the best draft prospects at every level of college football for the 2024 NFL Draft.”
Earlier this summer, Chris also landed a spot on another well-known preseason all-star game watch list, the East-West Shrine Bowl 1,000. As if that weren't enough attention and pressure to perform, in August, the 6-foot-6, 304-pounder is listed on college football’s most NFL-ready prospects. One of the nation's top analysts, included Walker in his annual “College Football Freaks” list.
The Senior Bowl began in 1950. In its history, only two other Montana Grizzlies in program history have earned an invitation to the game: offensive lineman Scott Gragg in 1994 and linebacker Jordan Tripp in 2014. Both of those Griz greats also enjoyed NFL careers.
Good luck, big number 55! All the best to Chris Walker for a sensational senior season.
