Missoula PaddleHeads Announce Lahaina Fundraiser Saturday
With a climbing death toll, the horrific nightmare continues in Lahaina on the Hawaiian island of Maui.
Like all of us, our Missoula PaddleHeads professional baseball team is deeply saddened by the wildfires burning on Maui that destroyed the town. We are well aware this is pretty short notice, but if you weren't already planning to go the game tomorrow night (Saturday, August 19) perhaps this might change your mind.
Tomorrow night's game is dedicated to a Wildfire Relief Fundraiser with the PaddleHeads.
The PaddleHeads actually have a connection to the devastated town. The team's Food and Beverage Manager, Jarrod Samaoang, originally hails from Lahaina. In the press release for the announced fundraiser, Jarrod's heartfelt comments included, "Lahaina was a small town that housed generations of families...The recent wildfires destroyed most of the town. Many have been lost. Many are still missing. Many are without a home. With your help and donations, a family will be able to begin that journey of recovery. It will be a long process, but Lahaina will rebuild, and be even stronger."
This Saturday, Hawaiian leis will be available for purchase in the ballpark with all proceeds supporting wildfire relief efforts. Leis will be sold for just $5 or however much fans choose to donate. In-game activities will also raise awareness and encourage fans to donate to the cause.
Game time is 7:10 p.m. Tickets typically range from $10 to $19 each can be purchased at the gate or in advance on the PaddleHeads ticket page.
We close with more from Jarrod Samaoang:
"No Keia La, No Keia Po, A Mau Loa. Ohana. Mahalo KaKou." - From this day, from this night, forever more. All of Us, Family. Thank you."
