Upper midwesterners have been known for their thick Canadian-like accents. They have their long "oooooooo's" and "bayyygggs." It's not the sexiest of accents, and I can say that because I have one of those ugly Wiscaaaansin accents. What's really strange is when I have a couple of adult beverages my accent REALLY comes out.

Earlier this week, we discovered what the toughest town in Montana to pronounce was. There are several Montana towns that can take practice to perfect especially if you're an out-of-stater. So I reached out to my friends back in Minnesota and Wisconsin to see how they pronounce some of these difficult Montana town names.

It didn't go well. Each and every one of them missed Ronan, Pablo and Ekalaka, but instead of me explaining how badly they butchered these towns I'll let you listen to how bad it went.

Ekalaka

This was really tough for the Midwest fellas. You gotta get the "EEk" at the beginning.

Ronan

I don't blame the guys for mispronouncing Ronan. For the longest time, I thought it sounded like a "ronin."

Wibaux

Oof. There were a few ugly pronunciations for Wibaux. My favorite was the top audio byte that says "wee-box." That gave me a chuckle.

Havre

One of my friends texted me saying he wanted to pronounce it like Brett Favre. "Harve, Montana."

Pablo

Pablo is similar to Ronan. I don't fault my friends for thinking it was pronounced like a man's name.
