If you like to travel in September to cheer on your Grizzly football team, don't bother making those plans in 2025!

While 7 home games (2024) is rather unique but not unprecedented, in what is believed to be a first in Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) history, University of Montana Sports Information Director Eric Taber tells us that today (Tuesday) it was announced that the Montana Grizzlies will become the first known FCS team ever to play eight regular season home football games, now on the schedule for 2025. That word from Director of Athletics Kent Haslam.

THE QUIRKY CALENDAR MAKES IT POSSIBLE

The Griz will play play a 12-game schedule for a second-straight year in 2025, thanks to  13 Saturdays falling between Labor Day and Thanksgiving. And that doesn't even include a game over Labor Day weekend.

Montana will start the season with four consecutive home games in September and six of their first seven games inside Washington-Grizzly Stadium, running through October 18. The only road game to that point will be at Idaho State on October 4. Home games against Eastern Washington and Montana State will cap the regular season home slate November 8 and 20, respectively.

Eric reports that demand for Grizzly football has never been higher in the state of Montana. The Grizzlies are coming off a record-breaking year with 18,761 season ticket packages sold in 2023, a year that saw UM win its 19th Big Sky title and advance to the FCS National Championship.

Season ticket renewals for the 2024 year are now underway. Current season ticket holders will have until April 12 to renew their seats before unpaid tickets are released. Deposits for new season ticket packages are also currently being accepted. Packages for new customers go on sale starting May 6.

QUOTING AD KENT HASLAM

"The opportunity to play eight home football games during the regular season is unprecedented in the FCS. We would not be able to build this schedule without the amazing fan base we have here at Montana.

“Fall in Missoula is always wonderful but fall of 2025 will be even better.”
